Sheep and beef production transformed our nation and has been a mainstay of our global exports to this day.

In 1982 over 70 million sheep were farmed in NZ and in 2020 we are farming over 27 million, this might sound like a significant reduction but the individual weight of each sheep has increased by up to 20%. Sheep and beef production accounts for 8.8 million hectares of land and almost 25% of this is native vegetation.
