Future Whenua Summit 2024

Ngawha Innovation Park Northland

March 15-17

In 2024, Future Whenua was hosted at Ngawha Innovation Park in beautiful Northland, a parallel province at the other end of the country from our Southland home base.

A significant part of our focus is committed to transforming our farm into a facility that nurtures regenerative innovation & entrepreneurship so we couldn’t be more proud to partner with Ngawha Park who have already committed to revitalising a 1000-acre working farm, creating a hub for land-based activities in the far north.

Future Whenua Summit 2023

The Montana Flat Southland

A 3-day, sensory immersion into the possibilities the future holds for productive land management and rural innovation was held on the family sheep farm, The Montana Flat.

The theme of the summit was around “regional regeneration”. In these uncertain times we feel its critical to get the conversation rolling on the practices and cultural attitudes required to build resiliency into the very fabric of our rural communities and we are building a powerful line-up of speakers to match the importance of the topic at hand.

Future Whenua Summit 2022

Mangarara Farm Hawkes Bay

In 2022 we took Future Whenua to the North Island with the Hart family on Mangarara Farm.

Mangarara Station is a beautiful representation of the type of land stewardship our conversation is orientated towards. Greg and Rachel have been practising regenerative agriculture since well before it held that title and they now live as a vibrant example of the practice. They are pioneers in agroforestry, have several enterprises operating in unison, a focus on community development and a keen eye on the future

Future Whenua Summit 2021

The Montana Flat Southland

We kicked things off with a farm tour showcasing a productive history, exciting transition and several innovative trials. This included some scientific background from Advance Agriculture and Soil Matters for good measure. Then at 5pm we opened the discussion on the status and direction of NZ ag with the honorable Damien O’Connor, followed by a classic kiwi bbq showcasing the best that local producers have to offer.

It was a fantastic event, catch the highlights on our YouTube channel.
