FWS2025

FUTURE WHENUA March 21-23

Haere Mai, to the next edition of the Future Whenua Summit. FWS'25, will be held at the stunning Lake Hāwea Station, near Wānaka.

For our fifth installment, we remain committed to merging diverse perspectives and fostering collaborations that push the boundaries of traditional farming. Expect to engage with solution-makers, local leaders, celebrate land-shaping innovators, get the chance to workshop big ideas, enjoy high-quality kai, and, of course, have a great time with fellow earth and farming enthusiasts.

On the 19th of March you are also welcome to join us for the Future Whenua Field Trip which will explore 3 local properties doing exemplary work in the ecological space.

As we continue our journey to highlight exemplary land stewardship, Lake Hāwea Station (LHS) emerges as an ideal location that truly resonates with the Future Whenua ethos. Known for its quality products, LHS are active in holistic grazing management, diverse pastures, winter crops, and the planting of thousands of native trees along waterways, this venue embodies our commitment to quality agricultural practices, and environmental consideration.

Please note it is essential to register your attendance (RSVP Button Below) as spaces are limited.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the event. We’re just as excited as you are to see how this year’s summit unfolds in such a vibrant and dynamic setting.

Otherwise they've kindly offered us to camp out. So if you need an excuse to dust off the tent or prepare the caravan, this is it. Furthermore Wānaka is about 30 minutes away and has ample accommodation options if this is preferable.

More Information

FW Field Trip March 19th

Our field trip gives us the opportunity to see, feel and experience the work of some of Central Otago’s pioneering regenerates ahead of the summit

We will visit three properties between Luggate and Cromwell to observe their practices and engage in discussions about their approaches to land stewardship. This will be an opportunity to see first-hand the work being done in the region and gain deeper insight into the innovative solutions being implemented.

Sticking to the theme, this is a KOHA event. Donations are welcome and can be made online (see below) or on the day.

The Gift Economy

We operate FWS in the spirit of the gift economy. It is our pleasure to host this event and don't want cost to be a barrier to attendance (comparable Ag events range from $200 to $800).

We use a ‘pay what you can’ model, encouraging equity.

We thank you for your attendance and contributions.
